Collier County Building Permit Exemptions

" If you intend to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system regulated by the Florida Building Code, or cause any such work to be done, you are required to obtain a permit regardless of the cost. "

This document was downloaded directly from the Collier County, Florida Growth Management Division website. I added highlighting to certain sections that describe circumstances

when a building permit is not required.

It is highly recommended and advised that you only use licensed and insured contractors

for ALL home improvement projects.

Very important - This document applies to single-family detached properties, NOT condominium units or villas/townhouses, and does NOT take into account any restrictive covenants

in force by Homeowners Association governance.

Before starting any home improvement project in an Association-governed building or community, speak with your Board of Directors and Manager / Management Company.
